Having a bad case of the Mondays? At least we have coffee, right?
Friends, I wanted to share with you a comic that shows the darker side of this ritual:
Or:
The Creative Process
This was a fun side project that I worked on a couple of months ago to get the creative juices flowing, and to work on my digital illustration skills. I wouldn’t say I’m proud of this comic anymore, nor does this reflect the style of the comic, really.
I was also reading Sandman at the time (which, I’m surprised to say, has an excellent Netflix adaptation), which uses a lot of less traditional panels. Oh, and while I was getting in the post-coffee morning piss, I saw a post on Reddit that was highlighting a coffee art shop in Japan.
And I was also thinking about The Rehearsal and Joe Pera - and the way they apply drama to the mundane. A few hours later, I had a script, layouts and the first few panels illustrated for Mourning Joe.
All of those things are much more brilliant than what I put together here, but it’s always fun to me when I can peel back the curtains and see the neural pathways, where they connected and how an idea was formed.
The Newsletter Format
Since this was my first ‘comics’ post, I wanted to discuss the format real quick. Above, you’ll see that I had a link to the full page (which, please do go view it, as this was the intended format) alongside a mobile view, formatted specifically for this newsletter. For the time being, this is how I’d like to release Processing - thinking about the format it is viewed in so we can effectively tell this story no matter the device. If you are on tablet or desktop, do click through to the website. That is the intended format, and mobile view is an added bonus for the newsletter.
Thank you for reading, for viewing and for sharing if you or somebody you know would enjoy this!
